Video Visitation Unit

The MTI Video Visitation Unit is a cost
effective solution for video visitation. It requires
minimal time out in the field for assembly and
mounting. The unit comes pre-assembled from
the factory. All that is required is mounting the
unit to the wall using the bracket provided with
the unit. The unit provides maximum flexibility
while not compromising security. All
components are secured within the 14 gauge housing.
This unit is also very reliable and easy to
maintain and service. All components can be
accessed by simply taking the top off of the
unit. There is no need to dismount the unit from
the wall in order to service any component.
Reliability is ensured by keeping the parts in the
unit to a minimum. The unit houses a 17”
LCD monitor and a 380 TV LOR camera
protected by a 3/8” thick sheet of Plexiglass. Full
duplexed audio is provided using a Walker
hearing aid compatible handset with volume
control. The handset is securely fastened to the
unit using a 29” armored cable. A magnetic
hanger is used for maximum stability (no
moving parts to tear up). The unit simply
requires 48V DC and a Cat6 connection. A
typical system diagram can be seen in Figure 2.
The video and audio are digitized and
compressed into a MPEG4 stream at the unit
providing real time operation. The maximum
data rate per unit is 2Mbps.
The units are controlled by a control station,
typically a standard MTI PC, using MTI
Video Visitation software.
