4 Gang OPTO Coupler

The 81042 provides for isolating clocking signals to
be received on both sides of the optical gap, thus
allowing for asynchronous operation of the two systems
being tied together by the opto coupler.
The 81042 opto coupler provides asynchronous communication
between processors. Utilizing opto couplers
on all data which is transferred between control
centers greatly enhances lightning protection. The fact
that the optically coupled units have a 7500 volt electrical
isolation between control centers allows for
ground separation of the supply voltages. In addition,
the 81042 provides asynchronous communication
between the control centers. Therefore, each
control center is allowed to operate on a locally generated
clock and provides for independent operation
of each control center. The 81042 optical isolator
provides for complete electrical isolation with asynchronous
data transfer.
The 81042 opto coupler is provided with shutdown
jumpers. The jumper is shipped in place for normal
operation. If the jumper is removed from any section
of the 81042, that section/opto coupler will shut down
and cease transfer of all data. This feature is provided
in order to provide for multiplexing of data loops
within a system.
